Sr. Controls Engineer - Developer

Job Functions:

Job Summary

This position performs engineering work related to research, designing, and development of new products and interfacing the control systems related to Genset operation.

Job Functions (Essential)
1. Configure microgrids, transformation/distribution systems, and overarching control systems for customer projects
2. Project design and development associated with new or existing products
3. This includes (but not limited to): generator set control systems, wiring harnesses, electrical diagrams, electronic engine governor systems, automatic voltage regulators, transformers, heaters, distribution panels, motor controls, protective relays, LV & MV paralleling switchgear, and any other electrical aspects of products.
4. Interface electrical and mechanical applications with the controls HMI systems
5. Work within a global Controls engineering organization and co-ordinate with global team in respective projects
6. Design interfaces between various proprietary hardware (PLC's, Web HMIs, and Database)
7. Converting existing SCADA to applications using .NET framework
8. Develop Interfaces with various 3rd party APIs to centralize data base
9. Analyzing manufacturer's wiring drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, data sheets and similar drawings
10. Researching and comprehending requirements from various engineering standards, contracts, and proposal documents
11. Preparing basic engineering calculations and drawings in accordance with applicable electrical codes, contract requirements, while utilizing industry standard/MTU adopted symbology and naming conventions
12. Preparing draft level equipment specifications for major electrical equipment
13. Utilizing proper design principles and tools for new product development and/or product improvements
14. Reviewing and comparing customer specifications against MTU designs and equipment vendor proposals
15. Complete work according to standard engineering principles and practices
16. Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct.
17. Perform special projects as required

Qualifications:

Qualifications (Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

1. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering and 5 years of Controls, Electrical, or Automation engineering experience; or 9 years of Controls, Electrical, or Automation engineering experience
2. Fundamental knowledge about Diesel and Gas reciprocating engines
3. Excellent knowledge in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XAML, Python Scripting. and APIs
4. Excellent knowledge of SQL, Influx DB, or any other Database system and writing queries
5. Excellent knowledge of device communication (TCP-IP, Modbus and CANbus)
6. Strong power systems knowledge
7. Strong knowledge in implementation of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle)
8. Strong knowledge with SVN, Git or any other Version control system
9. Strong ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints, line drawings and ladder diagrams
10. Excellent organizational, planning, and follow-up skills
11. Programming: PLC and structure text programming, scripted languages, Boolean/digital logic.
12. Ability to travel to customer and manufactures sites
13. Solid Computer Skills: AutoCAD LT, AutoCAD electrical, Programming (Programmable Logic Devices), MS Office
