The Inspector General (IG) has responsibility and delegated authority for the oversight and administration of all activities within the Office of the Inspector General (OIG), including all audits and related investigative activities, unless clear conflict of interest exists in so doing. The IG provides leadership and coordination and recommends policies to promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in all Library programs and operations nationally and internationally. The IG provides policy direction and conducts, supervises, and coordinates audits and investigations dealing with Library programs and operations. The IG plans, manages, and coordinates the day-to-day audit and investigative operations, ensuring that activities are carried out in accordance with Government Auditing Standards, policies of the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE), OIG policies and requirements, and any other applicable mandates to comply with the Library of Congress Inspector General Act of 2005.
