Salary: $40.26 Per Hour

  • This position is CBA which is subject to Health & Welfare benefits

Position Summary:

The HVAC Technician will maintain heating, ventilation & cooling equipment and controls in proper operation, control, and balance. Regular work hours are 7:00am - 3:30pm Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities:

  • Installs, services and repairs environmental-control systems utilizing knowledge of refrigeration and/or hydronic systems, airside equipment/components, piping, valves, and ductwork, and controls.
  • Mounts compressor and condenser units on platform or floor, using hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications.
  • Fabricates, assembles and installs ductwork and chassis parts, using portable metal working tools and welding equipment.
  • Installs evaporator unit in chassis or in air-duct system.
  • Installs fan systems on "mounts" or in-line.
  • Cuts and bends tubing to correct length and shape, using cutting and bending equipment and tools.
  • Joins tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units by means of sleeves, couplings or unions, and solders joints, using torch, forming complete circuit for refrigerant.
  • Installs expansion and discharge valves in circuit.
  • Connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connect control panels to power source.
  • Installs air and water filter sin completed installation.
  • Replaces defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses and electrical wiring to repair installed units.
  • Provide Test and Balancing for air-side systems.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Certificates, licenses and registrations required: Certification to operate, maintain and repair AC, evaporative cooling, dehumidification, and mechanical ventilation equipment
  • 5+ years experience as a heating, refrigeration, ventilation, and air conditioning mechanic at the journeyman level. Shall possess the "Universal CFC Certification".
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong oral and written skills.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Must have facilities experience
