Job Description

The Psychologist Community Health is a key member of the Center for Childhood Resilience team. The Center for Childhood Resilience (CCR) is a program in the Pritzker Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. CCR develops, evaluates and disseminates mental health best practices to promote systems change and to increase access and reduce mental health disparities where kids live, learn and play. CCR works with education, community-based and other youth serving agencies to deliver innovative, sustainable, culturally attuned, and evidence-based strategies, promote mental health and wellness, and foster resilience in the face of adversity. The Psychologist Community Health role includes serving as a program evaluator, project manager, trainer, supported implementation/technical assistance coach and project consultant. This open position has a focus on program evaluation and research. The position actively supports the CCR team, Department and Hospital efforts to achieve continuous quality improvement, customer service goals through modeling of appropriate behavior and by providing a work environment conducive to attaining these goals.   • Doctoral degree in psychology. APA- approved clinical internship preferred.
  • If clinical psychology doctoral degree and APA clinical internship, licensure required; current license required, or licensed within one year.
  • Experience working with PreK - 12th grade age children in school, child welfare, healthcare or mental health setting is required. School-based experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to health equity, diversity, inclusion, racial justice, evidence-informed policy, data-driven advocacy and community-driven processes.
  • Possesses excellent presentation skills that foster active participation and new knowledge and skill acquisition.
  • Proven experience successfully delivering in-person or web-based professional development and training to range of professionals representing different youth-serving agencies required.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic project-based team environment that works to respond with flexibility to meet project needs and deadlines.
  • Strong organization and project management skills, ability to respond quickly to data requests.
  • Ability to think critically and proactively, act creatively, and take initiative appropriately in sometimes ambiguous situations.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency program evaluation including managing, organizing, and evaluating large datasets.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills; adept at presenting to diverse audiences of executive leaders, physicians, researchers, community partners and community members.
  • Experience with IRB applications and compliance required.
  • Comfortable working in shared work space and multiple locations.
  • Local travel to project sites, client locations and conferences required. May include some overnight travel.
  • Bilingual Spanish verbal and written abilities preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and advanced proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS, SAS, STATA), Qualtrics, REDCap, Mendeley, and Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel and PowerPoint presentation software required.

Job Duties:

  • 1.Engage in program evaluation and research including a focus on translation and implementation science of evidence-based interventions and strategies in schools and other child-serving settings including community-based organizations;

    2.Consults to community, school district and other agency leaders and staff to establish progress monitoring and evaluation systems for social-emotional learning and behavioral health programming in these settings. Includes delivery of on-site and distance consultation and technical assistance on models and protocols for progress monitoring of these programs;

    3.Collaborates with CCR leadership, staff, and community partners to apply research methods and data analytics to develop and implement effective ways to evaluate impact of CCR's programs and initiatives. Partners includes external school and community health programs, clinicians and public health experts, researchers, community-based organizations and others.

    4.Identifies relevant and accessible ways (e.g., papers, briefs, infographics, and mapping) to present data to meet CCR's and partners' data needs, including end-of-year reports. Including dissemination and evaluation of evidence based therapies/cognitive behavioral therapies focused on trauma in children and youth spanning from early childhood to the 12th grade.

    5.Delivers and develops new and established training content: creates presentation materials and facilitates interactive sessions on trauma, universal mental health strategies, group mental health interventions and parent engagement for a range of multiple discipline professionals and adults serving youth and families. Includes coordination, planning, co-facilitation, tracking and documentation of impact and results, as requested.

    6.Promotes evidence-based practices through training and delivering supported implementation/technical assistance on clinical mental health interventions. This includes collaboration with national experts to complete certified trainer credentialing and disseminate interventions and supported implementation. As well as delivery of in-person and web-based training, professional learning communities, train-the-trainer models, and technical assistance for range of clinicians and staff in school and community settings, as requested.

    7.Participates in dissemination and quality improvement evaluation/research of program implementation and impact. Contributes to and participates in national conferences and training summits including collaborating on and submitting abstracts, presentations, posters and symposiums.

    8.Assists with philanthropic, government, and research grants, including grant and proposal writing, reporting, and budget development and monitoring deliverables, and maintaining relationships with funding sources.

    9.Works with Hospital Institutional Review Board (IRB) and related groups to submit study protocols and ensure that study protocols are in compliance with appropriate rules and regulations, and reviews study progress and recommends revisions as necessary to better meet needs of sponsors.

    10.Contributes to CCR and Hospital advocacy mission through participation in local, state and national stakeholder and advocacy groups related to mental health services and the impact of trauma and violence on children, youth, and communities.

    11.Provides seminars and training experiences for trainees (psychiatry fellows, psychology and social work interns) and interested professionals on CCR community-based mental health activities, including trauma-informed practices, advocacy, school-based mental health services, and school-community collaborations.

    12.Participates in the educational mission of the Department and Hospital including presentations at didactics, provides supervision to designated personnel (trainees, staff, and interns) as assigned per program, completing evaluations as required.

    13.Works with team members, Operations Director and Executive Director to provide appropriate coverage for scheduled absences. Maintains appropriate records and documentation of services for hospital and program needs.

    14.Participates in continuing education events including hospital required education and professional certification/licensure.
