MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
For West Virginia Labs:
1. Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology/Medical (Clinical) Laboratory Science OR Bachelor of Science in a physical, chemical or biological science with one year of clinical lab training/experience.
2. WV Licensure as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) within 90 days of hire.
For Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Maryland Labs:
1. Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology/Medical (Clinical) Laboratory Science OR Bachelor of Science in a physical, chemical or biological science.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Five (5) years of clinical laboratory experience.

1. Performs daily patient result and quality control reviews and takes appropriate corrective action.
2. Supervises daily operations and scheduling of the Laboratory personnel at the hospital.
3. Determines the department's organizational needs in terms of services offered and staffing requirements.
4. Assist the Director in data collection and management for performance improvement projects, order and control inventory and supply spending.
5. Write procedures, research and develop new testing and protocols, facilitate performance improvement project data gathering and implementation.
6. Ensures that Laboratory tests are performed according to department protocols and are reported in a timely manner.
7. Maintains adequate quality control measures & ensures that systems are in place to provide test results that are valid and accurate.
8. Assists the Director in planning and performing Quality Assurance and Compliance monitoring.
9. Oversees the orientation of new employees and ensures that they are adequately trained to perform assigned duties.
10. Ensures that staff is competent to perform assigned tasks.
11. Provides Director with input into the development of annual goals and objectives that are reflective and supportive of the hospital goals.
12. Performs the duties of Director in their absence.

Additional Job Description:
The Cytology Laboratory Supervisor, under the direction of the Anatomic Pathology Manager and with oversight by the Director of Cytopathology, will serve as a member of the leadership team in the Pathology Department. The successful candidate will supervise the technical staff and oversee the technical day-to-day operations of the Cytopathology laboratory. They will assign work schedules for clinical Cytotechnologists and lab technicians in the Cytology laboratory. They will investigate, write, and implement technical procedures and policies relative to gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens. They will assist in monitoring and evaluating equipment, systems and supplies to ensure operational efficiency and reliability of results. The candidate will establish and maintain compliance with all applicable health and safety policies (Joint Commission, CAP, State and Federal guidelines). They will establish and maintain quality control practices consistent with state/federal and accrediting agencies laws/guidelines in conjunction with our hospital's mission. They will collaborate with other supervisors and staff within the department in identifying, planning, and implementing performance improvement projects. In addition, this candidate will function as a clinical Cytotechnologist to complete the workload within the Cytology laboratory. The candidate will also work with the University of Nebraska site coordinator to manage and balance the hospital clinical workflows with the expectations and education for University of Nebraska students. They will work in alignment with the department's educational mission and participate in the training of pathology residents, cytopathology fellows, medical students, and cytology students.
