As an R&D Hardware Engineer, you will have the opportunity to leverage your Electrical Engineering expertise and measurement knowledge to contribute to a range of hands-on projects. You will play a vital role in our product development team, which focuses on designing, developing, and testing RF and microwave test equipment.

We seek a self-motivated engineer who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced development environment. You will be responsible for designing and simulating analog and RF hardware designs, troubleshooting the hardware when it arrives, and working with the cross-functional team, including FPGA, firmware/software, mechanical, materials, and manufacturing engineers. The ideal candidate is equally proficient in design and characterization in a hands-on environment.

In collaboration with a diverse, multi-disciplined team that includes R&D, Marketing, Sales, Customer Support, and Production, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing analog and RF circuits, including appropriate simulations
  • Leading component selection
  • Schematic entry
  • PCB/PCA design
  • Electrical characterization and debug
  • Crafting comprehensive technical documentation

Qualifications
  • BS/MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or equivalent applicable experience
  • 5+ years of experience in analog circuit design, verify and debug process
  • Proven experience in the design, verification, and debugging of digital and analog circuits
  • Knowledge of circuit theory, transmission line theory, and high-speed signal design
  • Printed circuit board design experience, including experience with high-speed signal integrity
  • Experience with CAD/CAE design tools
  • Proactive in issue discovery and resolution.
  • Good analytical problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work independently and tackle challenging tasks
  • Ability to function effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies
  • Strong device physics knowledge as it applies to analog IC design
  • Hands-on experience in using spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, etc. to validate analog designs
  • Experience in working with production test engineers to produce test plans and design for testability details
  • Solid experience with device bias, selection and application of opamps, switched-mode converters, LDOs, PLLs, VGAs, feedback and compensation techniques,
  • Practical knowledge of mixed-signal design, varied applications of feedback control, noise and low-noise design, modulation theory

Desired Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge and analytical understanding of mixed-signal design techniques
  • Experience with designing for EMC and debugging related issues
  • Understanding of data converter architectures and design trade-offs
  • Good knowledge of high-precision techniques in the presence of device mismatch
  • Experience in chip integration working with Digital Design and Physical Design teams
  • Basic understanding of FPGA design and programming
  • Experience in ASIC design experience in different application fields is a plus
  • Experience in C/Matlab/Verilog modeling
  • Strong device physics knowledge as it applies to analog IC design
  • Experience in working with production test engineers to produce test plans and design for testability details
  • Experience in Vector Network Analyzer measurements and system design
  • Fluency in a scripting language such as Python

Location: Santa Rosa, CA

The level of role will be based on applicable experience, education and skills; Most offers will be between the minimum and the midpoint of the Salary Range listed below.

California pay range: MIN$106,000-MAX$178,000

Note: For other locations, pay ranges will vary by region
