High School Math Coach (Teacher on Special Assignment)

Full Time - 2024-25 school year

Location: Andover High School

Provide focused job-embedded support that is based on identified needs of each mathematics teacher as they implement College Preparatory Mathematics (CPM) curricular resources and ancillary materials. This differentiated job-embedded support will increase teachers' capacity to implement CPM as recommended by the CPM Educational Program to ensure student mastery of the Minnesota K-12 Academic Standards - Mathematics. The coach's support will also aid teachers with standards aligned assessments and effective instructional strategies, including but not limited to the integration of technology; design and deliver individualized professional learning to support teachers as they develop skills in relation to establishing a positive mathematics classroom culture, delivering content rich, rigorous, and relevant curriculum, analysis of student work, differentiating instruction and supporting Multilingual Language learners and students with special needs.

Duties: Support teachers of mathematics as they implement CPM in all designated mathematics courses using CPM materials. Support teachers in meeting the needs of students by modeling, coaching and engaging teachers in professional discussions that will deepen their understanding of high leverage mathematics instructional practices. Provide a direct communication path that will provide consistent messaging to all mathematics Collaborative Teams district wide. Communicate common messages across all secondary buildings. Support consistency and effective utilization of CPM resources and ancillary material in alignment with best and evidence-based practices recommended by CPM Educational Programs. Engage actively in curriculum writing and standards aligned assessment development. Establish and maintain a trusting, confidential and non-evaluative relationship with teachers. Promote collegiality through collaborative work and reflective practices with teachers and administrators. Participate in Collaborative Teams at the building level and with the district mathematics coach group. Continue self-learning, professional growth, and understanding of Minnesota K-12 Academic Standards - Mathematics and Benchmarks. Participate in ongoing professional learning to enhance the specialist's skills and proficiency in relation to the job responsibilities. Work with the mathematics coach group to create, gather feedback, and support teachers' development and delivery of common unit assessments. Maintain high visibility in the school building, working with teachers, and in classrooms.

Minimum Qualifications: Requires Math License.
(Anoka-Hennepin will make every effort to hire teachers with full standard licenses in the assigned subject and grade level.)

Preferred Qualifications: Experience using CPM materials in classroom instruction preferred. Prior CPM training preferred. Experience in curriculum writing, including standards aligned assessment development preferred. Strong understanding of Minnesota K-12 Academic Standards - Mathematics and Benchmarks preferred. Proven leadership and professional development experience preferred.

Start Date: August 2024. This position may be filled immediately after 7 posting days (after: 4/25/24) by an appropriately licensed candidate (PELSB Tier 3 or Tier 4 license).
