Position Summary:

As part of the Susan & Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences, the UCI Program in Public Health is dedicated to the achievement of health equity for all populations through research, teaching, service, and public health practice, locally and globally. Championing the principles of evidence-based public health science, the Program's community aspires to understand and impact population-level social, biological, and environmental determinants of health and well-being.
The Program in Public Health is seeking a highly organized professional to support the founding Dean in project management of research activities and Program related events and activities. As part of the Dean's research team, we seek someone who can create processes that yield effective results and reports for all research activities. This includes creating timelines, roles and expectations documentation, provide training on UCI programs and policies, develop reports in collaboration with research team, communicate out to correct stakeholders. For the Program related activities, we look for someone who can organize conferences (i.e. Women's Health), work closely with Public Health center directors, organize guest speaker events, contribute to the accreditation of the school (includes writing, organization of tasks and meetings, and site-visit arrangements), Dean specific activities to promote the Program and future school, and ad-hoc activities from inception to completion. Individual does not need to have a background in research but must be a strategic thinker, highly organized, be proactive and a problem solver, be able to lead and be part of a team. This individual will work with many different departments across the program and university so must have excellent communication skills. Time management is a necessary skill for success. Incumbent should remain professional in fast-paced situations, and be adaptable with shifting priorities.

$30.73 - $49.43 (Hourly Rate)

Required:
  • 5-10 years
  • Bachelor's degree required; higher education degree preferred or equal work experience in high-volume work environment
  • Demonstrated time management and project management Experience managing multiple research projects Computer skills include Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Demonstrated organizational and record keeping skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to anticipate problems, develop solutions and make recommendations using data supported evidence
  • Ability to learn areas less familiar areas to improve their work output
  • Flexible working hours/schedule during large events/conferences; hybrid schedule
Preferred:
  • Knowledge of university purchasing procedures
Special Conditions Required:
  • Hybrid work schedule that may fluctuate with Dean's schedule
