The RN Educator Per Diemcoordinates and conducts community health education on a variety of topics to targeted audiences. Conducts community health screenings to targeted audiences. Participates in health fairs and other events as required.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a RN Educator Per Diem at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Coordinates and/or conducts community health education programs as directed by manager. Prepares written curriculum, accurate program descriptions and other materials as needed. Applicable handouts and visual aids are researched, developed, updated, and provided. Identifies opportunities for performance improvement by ensuring program participants complete an appropriate evaluation tool.
  • Conduct health screenings as directed. Screenings are provided in a technically competent manner on a timely basis. May require transport of screening equipment and supplies and assembly of equipment.
  • Oversee per diem staff and provide direction as needed. Maintain adequate inventory of medical supplies, general supplies and other items.
  • Assist with community outreach activities including health fairs, and other programs. May include transporting equipment and literature, set-up and break-down of exhibits/tables, registration of guests, dissemination of health information and literature as required.
  • Responds and provides health information or resources for community members, patients/guests and meridian health staff in a timely manner. Assists marketing and public relations staff with articles and interviews for health information accuracy.
  • Timely response to call center (beryl) inquiries regarding classes, services, and nutrition information.
  • Attends professional meetings, in-services and conferences, and reviews journals, books, and websites to insure accuracy of program content and materials. Identifies opportunities for performance improvement by ensuring program participants complete an appropriate evaluation tool. As approved by the CASS management staff develops and implements seminars or programs for education professionals (teachers & School RNs) to provide Professional Development hours.
  • Accurately collects data and inputs information into database or other system on a regular basis. Submit monthly management report summarizing outreach activities and outcomes. Provides program attendance and evaluation forms for events and/or classes for the purpose of obtaining statistical data. Produces reports on outreach activity as requested.
  • Identifies and maintains relationships with community organizations as directed by manager. Maintain a current and up to date database of contacts for the department. Participates in community and/or MHS committees and service organizations to promote Meridian services, programs and strategic initiatives.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Proficient working with all standard office equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Proficient working other equipment as necessary.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
