Infrastructure Monitoring Engineer

About the role:

As part of the Network Infrastructure team supporting all Server, Storage, Network, Telecom, Cloud and Infrastructure teams with an operational excellence and improving innovation mindset to support project and operational delivery priorities of the DentaQuest business.

Working with IT Operations and Project Delivery the analyst will aid in the identification of end-to-end monitoring requirements, implementation of monitoring, alerting and dashboarding. Drives the execution of monitoring implementations and configurations focusing on excellence, innovation, and client value. Using technical aptitude and a process workflow for deployment.

What will you do?

  • Manage the Monitoring, Alerting and Dashboarding of all Infrastructure services at DQ and working with the Data and Application monitoring teams assist in the delivery of end to end reliability management for the core IT business Applications, solutions and services.
  • Build service dashboards in partnership with stakeholders to meet requirements.
  • Create automation playbooks or templates to improve the efficiency and speed of the processes
  • Has experience with analyzing processes to understand how they meet objectives, across numerous projects and applications.
  • Proactively reviews and interprets monitor data for the purposes of identifying improvement opportunities, assessing application health
  • Proactively partners with stakeholders and sponsors to review results specifying potential project or operational release impacts.
  • Produces reports or dashboards of application experiences to communicate current health/ status across the enterprise that includes infrastructure and applications that leverage on prem, cloud or hybrid deployments.
  • Uses a variety of quantitative and qualitative measures and metrics to manage the overall health of the monitoring system
  • Conducts frequent meetings with experts to obtain rapid feedback to improve quality of data, reports and dashboards
  • Is skilled at evaluating the audience's needs and confirming and explaining end to end monitoring options
  • Implements monitoring tools to add value and enables the use by educating and supporting the tools.
  • Able to setup screen scraping as part of the monitoring process to determine health of IT services
  • Able to work with API's as well as the SNMP protocol to integrate tools and other facets to improve the quality and quantity of monitoring data available
  • Able to work flexible hours to support delivery and operational needs as required.
  • Can compare and contrast alternative products and vendors. Has participated in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new tools.

What you need to succeed:

  • Possesses a university degree and/or 5+ years relevant work experience in application development or infrastructure support
  • A minimum of 1 year of IT monitoring experience
  • A minimum of 2 years working in a SDLC and/or ITIL delivery process

Preferred skills:

  • Intermediate understanding of Enterprise delivery methodologies, such as ITIL, Agile and Waterfall
  • Experience in executing processes using CMMI, ITIL and/or Six Sigma
  • Experience implementing and changing processes
  • Experience with log analytics, APM and Event correlation processes and tools
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organization skills
  • Strong collaborative relationship management and consulting skills which results in proven ability to quickly earn the trust of stakeholders
  • Solid presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid business and technical acumen, with demonstrated agility in learning and ability to become comfortable with unfamiliar businesses areas or technologies
  • Ability to negotiate and is able to present his/her case effectively
  • Relates well to others - including team members, peers and senior leaders
  • Sends the right messages and information to appropriate audiences verbally and in writing; keeps people informed; adapts communication style to the needs of the audience
  • Has knowledge of various IT engineering and operational theories and practices.
  • Able to address multiple complex issues simultaneously.
  • Uses outside sources (e.g. third parties, experts) to influence others and accomplish objectives.
  • Networks with outside industry related contacts to identify innovative solutions

Southern region: $93,200 - $139,800 annually

Central region: $98,200 - $147,300 annually

Northern region: $105,000 - $157,500 annually

If you are a Colorado resident, the salary range for this position is $89,000 - $133,500 annually.

If you are a New York resident, the salary range for this position is : $105,000 - $157,500 annually.

If you are Washington resident, the salary range for this position is $98,200 - $147,300 annually.
