JOB SUMMARY:

The Controller will play a key role in managing the financial health and integrity of the organization. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, accounting, and reporting within your assigned Subsidiary. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth, rapidly evolving environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Supervise staff (Senior Accountants) in the completion of and (personally complete assigned tasks) in all monthly, quarterly, and yearly accounting closing procedures. Personally process complex or sensitive transactions.
  • Maintain accurate and complete sets of records supporting all transactions in an organized manner and retained in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Prepare all required schedules and assist the Corporate Controller in managing all aspects of year end audit, as well as any other compulsory or required audits.
  • Assist Corporate Controller in monitoring company-wide annual budget and provide monthly, quarterly and annual variance reports.
  • Ensure accuracy of general ledger and data flowing into the general ledger from external sources (Salesforce, Compass, ADP, etc.).
  • Provide support to Corporate Controller in all things relevant to your assigned Subsidiary, including having a deep knowledge of current monthly, quarterly, and yearly results.
  • Assist staff and operations with streamlining processes and controls, including establishing and maintaining accurate process narratives, flowcharts, and controls documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

The qualifications listed below are representative of the elements required to perform the job successfully; however, in some cases, an equivalent combination of Education, Training, Certifications, and Experience may meet the job qualifications.

Education, Training, Certifications:

  • High school Diploma, or equivalent, required.
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field of study
  • CPA or MBA a plus

Experience, Knowledge, Skill Requirements:

  • At least 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • At least four years of leadership and experience managing direct reports
  • Public accounting, audit experience a plus, but time outside of public accounting required

Communication Skills:

  • Must have the ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in English with employees and customers.

Systems and Software Skills:

  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, advanced MS Excel skills.

Other Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required.
  • Occasional travel required up to 20%.
  • Must be able to comply with Summit's Drug and Alcohol Policy and Background screening requirements, which may also include customer specific requirements based on contractual agreements.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for long periods. Employee will occasionally be required to drive, bend, kneel, balance, lift <20lb, walk, stand, ascend/descend stairs, reach above and below shoulders, stoop, and twist.

Work Environment:

Employee will consistently be required to work indoors in an office or remote setting, sit or stand for extended periods of time, and work alone and with others. The employee will be occasionally required to travel.
