Duties, Responsibilities & Other

This is an ongoing FDOT CEI contract, and we expect these positions will commence in mid-May 2024 and will continue until mid-January 2027.

The project is located approximately 10 miles northeast of Ft. Myers, 17 miles southeast of Punta Gorda and 18 miles west of LaBelle.

As an FDOT project, the successful candidate(s) will have current FDOT CTQP certifications pertinent to the position for which they are applying.

    Perform field construction inspection and documentation services on various commercial; municipal; institutional; and/or heavy highway and bridge projects. Candidate must have the ability to sometimes work in adverse weather conditions. Candidate must be physically able to perform moderately strenuous tasks; which includes walking along rough terrain, climbing ladders and lifting up to 50 pounds. Candidate must be available to possibly work night shift or a varied work schedule. Position may require overnight travel. Position is subject to seasonal layoff.
  • Experience working in a construction related field. Position is currently available in New Castle and Kent County Delaware.
  • Candidate must be able to read, write and communicate fluently. Candidate must possess basic math skills including geometry and trigonometry. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to understand construction plans, specifications and procedures. Candidate must have ability to work as a team member and to complete daily reports in a daily journal by hand and by computer.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation is required.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma. Associates degree in Civil Engineering Technology or applicable field preferred. Minimum of 0 - 2 years of experience required.
  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.

Performance Expectations
  • Accurately records and reports daily forms per project requirements
  • Communicates effectively with client, contractor, staff, and supervisor
  • Proactively resolves problems at the lowest level
  • Adheres to project scope, schedule, and budget
  • Reviews all work for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting
  • Submits accurate time sheets, mileage and expense reports on time each week
  • Reviews jobsite safety daily and takes immediate action to document and resolve issues
  • Understands OSHA Safety Standards and KCI corporate policies and follows them at all times
  • Maintains all required certifications and participates in training courses as required
  • Understands all applicable industry standards for project and performs all tasks per standards and client requirements
