Job Summary:
The Product Development and Engineering (PDE) NAM is part of Technologies development. This position plays a key role in establishing the SKF Vision "A world of reliable rotation", by supporting the SKF Business Community in the management of Technical Product Information. As part of the PDE NAM Team, the Knowledge Digitalization Engineer develops and implements new configurations and designs automation solutions fitting the needs of our specific product line. This product line not only includes TSBB, SLB, but also Application Specific Offer based on DGBB, SRB or TRB or Agriculture bearings. The digital Product information twin being the single source of data, he/she is in charge of deploying data structure enabling further product data creation and consumption as; use of Design Automation tools we create, use of standards SKF Group provide, Modularization we create, integration and upgrade of the legacy documentation.

The Role of the Knowledge Digitalization Engineer:
This person will work closely with the product engineers, users of Design Automation; product engineers, product designers and others Design Automation colleagues enabling new solutions and digitalizing knowledge and designs rules. This person liaises between the bearing Knowledge team and the global PLM and digitalization roles. The role of a knowledge digitalization Engineer is to develop and implement the digital tools and to connect them within the product engineering workflow. These tools are specific to our product lines and use existing and proven design rules. The role of a product development organization being to develop new design rules, from which the digital engineer role is to maintain and update the existing tools to these new design rules as much as to the new recommendations enabling a smooth integration of these tools in the common SKF systems; Windchill, Creo from PTC, Simpro simulation software, Bearing Select software. This opportunity is a Hybrid working scheme: 3 days in office, 2 home office with 10% travel involved.

Responsibilities Include But Not Limited to:

  • Develop and implement the digital tools and to connect them within the product engineering workflow.
  • Own and maintain all tools specific to our PDE portfolio.
  • Maintain and update the existing tools to these new design rules as much as to the new recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain new recommendations enabling a smooth integration of these tools in the common SKF systems; Windchill, Creo from PTC, Simpro simulation software, Bearing Select software.
  • Develop, codes these tools according to global guidelines provided by the global organization.
  • Test and publish all tools.
  • Aggregate the tools workflow.
  • Maintain documentation training on our tools and provide daily support.
  • Interface with the PLM team and software with ability to communicate about the product data structure and data flow.
  • Execute User Acceptance Tests.

Key Job Interfaces & Interactions (Typical):

  • Local SKF product engineers: Daily, they are the source of the knowledge to capture and the system and tool users to automatize the design.
  • Local designers: daily, they design what cannot be automated, keeping a smooth continuum between what is automated and what is not is part of the mission.
  • Global Design Automation department, data master owner and PLM department: Frequently
  • Functional Manager: Frequently

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering stream with Software interest or the other way around.
  • 5-6 Years of relevant functional work experience, can be split between Mech and Software
  • Knowledge on PLM (preferred PTC windchill) & CAD (preferred PTC CREO) platform.
  • Coding experience.
  • Abstraction ability to code mechanical design rules into Main Language; VBA, Python, WinDev..
  • Ability to identify and define transfer function from existing KL patterns.
  • Experience in Design Automation, ideally in mechanical industry.
  • Ability to write programs in an object-oriented language like C++, C# or Java, Python, WinDev, VBA.
  • Working knowledge of any Bug tracking & End user support tool.

Job Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability to see structures and patterns in complex problems, learning appetite.
  • Engineering Mechanical knowledge is needed.
  • Knowledge on Bearings is an advantage.
  • Experience of Configurator tools is a plus (CPQ solutions).
  • Execute User Acceptance Tests.
  • Understand of Product Engineering and Design process as Request for Quotation, Design revision control.
  • Understand the product master data creation.
  • Being an individual contributor.
  • Highly motivated & self-initiator with good communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment locally and remotely.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced environment, delivering results.
  • Ability to stand up to propose and defend technical solution, with short- and long-term views.
