We have a great opportunity for a talented Structural Engineer to join the Building Technologies Group in our St. Paul, Minnesota office.


Our Structural Engineer performs assignments designed to develop professional engineering work, knowledge and abilities, and may work independently to evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.


Structural engineering assignments are related to structural building systems on industrial, commercial, and higher education projects. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and interested in team building, client relationships, and continuous learning while applying a broad range of structural engineering and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Additional responsibilities include but may not be limited to the following:

    Prepare construction documents and edit project specifications
  • Prepare structural design calculations for building structures and equipment supports
  • Prepare computer-based building models and analyses
  • Prepare design drawings and/or provide mark ups to drafting team or other project resources
  • Organize and maintain project files
  • Coordinate with other design professionals
  • Assist in performing structural assessments and evaluations of existing structures
  • Prepare written reports and respond to other engineer's reports
  • Perform construction administration tasks
  • Travel to work-sites as needed or when required
Qualifications

We believe the following qualifications will lead to great success in this role:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering with emphasis in Structures
  • 3 to10 years of relevant experience in a consulting engineering design environment
  • Ability to demonstrate good understanding of applicable engineering codes
  • Familiarity with design and analysis using various materials, including but not limited to:
  • steel, stainless steel, aluminum
  • concrete and precast concrete
  • masonry
  • timber
  • Proficiency with RISA 3D/RISA Floor/RISA Foundation or similar structural analysis and design software
  • Ability to prioritize work on multiple projects under budget and time constraints
  • Strong desire to learn and take on responsibility
  • Must be legally able to work in the US. Sponsorship is not available with this position
