POSITION SUMMARY

The Superintendent oversees Cell Leaders, offering necessary guidance to their teams. Coordinates and directs workplace organization and production activities to align with Corporate objectives, departmental KPI targets, and customer requirements. Enforces adherence to company policies and procedures among Cell Leaders and employees. Ensures work aligns with MCI's health, safety, and environmental protocols. Serves as a communication link to senior management, ensuring objectives are met to achieve business goals.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Directs department activities and ensures production is carried out in accordance with schedule attainment, first time quality, and LEAN manufacturing practices.
  • Ensures work meets quality standards. Addresses any non-conforming materials with the Material Review Board. Follows through on quality issues by ensuring root causes are identified and addressed.
  • Monitors and ensures budget compliance and provides updates on department budget status to management. Advises management of issues when required.
  • Manages Cell Leaders to assign work to production employees and ensures cell leaders and hourly employees have the training, skills and authorization to perform tasks.
  • Manages Cell Leaders performance to maximize effectiveness as set against the TAKT time, Building in Station, live bus, and efficiency.
  • Ensures departmental targets/ KPI's are meet
  • Conduct production meetings and Ensure Cell Leaders review and communicate KPI's to the department.
  • Provides guidance to Cell Leaders on work requirements and expectations.
  • Ensures employees perform effectively and comply with various company policies, procedures and practices including: Plant Safety and Environment (H&S/E) Rules, Plant Rules, Attendance, Human Rights, and others as applicable.
  • Ensures Cell Leaders addresses any employee compliance or performance issues through MCI's corrective action process.
  • Ensures compliance with terms of Collective Bargaining Agreement. Responds and addresses employee/labor relations matters as appropriate.
  • Carries out other projects or initiatives aimed at advancing MCI's business effectiveness.
  • Support Continues improvement and corporate projects.
  • Implements improvements within the department via Continuous Improvement events as required.
  • Enforces department lean manufacturing standards to meet "5 S" and continuous improvement targets.
  • Responsible for departmental resources being allotted to various stations
  • Directs Cell Leaders to cross train employees and keep up to date training records.
  • Ensure Manufacturing and safety processes are maintained and improved.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Business, Supervisory, Management courses or similar training preferred. Engineering/ technical related education as a asset
  • Minimum of Five (5) years' experience as a supervisor in a unionized setting.
  • Five (5) to Ten (10) years' experience in a manufacturing setting preferably in the transportation, automotive or coach/bus industry.
  • Experience with labor relations, budgeting and financial statements an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment independently and prioritize workload.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, particularly in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, and Visio.
