Electrical Engineer III / Senior Electrical Engineer

Job Description
Dakota Electric Association (DEA), a growing customer-owned electric cooperative located just south of the Twin Cities in Farmington, Minnesota, has a full-time Senior Electrical Engineering position available. This position serves as the Association’s expert in materials and construction standards and provides distribution engineering support for the Association.
The Electrical Engineer works to maintain and improve the safety, reliability and overall economics of the electrical distribution system. This is done through the creation or maintenance of various engineering studies, material specifications, construction standards and technical standards. The studies & standards are used to support the field construction, distribution system design, equipment maintenance and the operation of the overhead distribution system.
The position provides a wide variety of experiences and hands on application of your engineering skills. Daily interaction with field crews, supervisors, vendors, manufacturers and consultants is part of this position. Duties include exploration and investigation of new technologies which may impact Dakota Electric’s distribution system; working with our new state of the art geographical information system (GIS) and engineering modeling systems to provide creative solutions is a requirement of this position.
This position requires a four-year degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE or BEE). The Engineer III position requires a minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience in the distribution utility or related field. A minimum of 10 years’ experience required for Senior Electrical Engineer level. Professional Engineering license in the State of Minnesota is required.
