GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Finance and Accounting Intern role is an entry level position in the broader Finance & Accounting organization that will be participating in various activities that can include monthly close, reporting, forecasting, annual budgets (AOP), industry research, treasury activities, operating plan variance analysis, long-range planning, establishing cost structures and special projects and ad hoc requests along with other development opportunities. The Finance Intern can provide assistance with preparing financial presentations, capital expenditure analysis, industry benchmark/comparisons, evaluation of new business opportunities and related business analytics to assist the business leaders with decision making tools. The Finance intern may explore historical financial data, predict future results and drive process and policy improvements. All of the above activities are performed with an ownership mindset in a team environment demonstrating close collaboration within the Finance & Accounting teams and with cross-functional partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Actively lead process and efficiency analysis, and give insightful recommendations to the team for improving business performance and operational efficiencies
  • Broaden your perspective on career development, gain problem-solving insights, and enhance your ability to navigate the organizational culture with the aid of an assigned mentor.
  • Develop your network by engaging with employees and interns from across Comfrey Farm Prime Pork's many businesses and functions
  • Complete project(s) throughout the summer and report-out on your accomplishments through a final internship capstone presentation to business leaders, supervisors and colleagues at the end of your internship
  • Other appropriate duties from time to time

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Education: Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Statistics, or a related degree.
  • All candidates must be geographically flexible and willing to relocate for an internship opportunity
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; capable of presenting financial information in an easy-to-understand format.
  • Computer Skills: Strong computer skills and the ability to multi-task; working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Must organize/prioritize work, manage multiple tasks and projects and function effectively as a team member
  • Maturity, professionalism, and high level of discretion
  • Independent worker and analytical thinker with ability to conduct research, data analysis and resolve complex problems
  • Strong presence with ability to interact with Senior Leadership

Internship Program

  • Comfrey Farm Prime Pork offers both housing assistance and meal per diem
  • Internships are paid and are at least 12 weeks during the summer term
  • Day-to-day transportation to and from work is the responsibility of the intern
  • Interns who demonstrate exceptional performance and a curiosity to learn more may be offered a full-time position upon completion of internship or graduation
