Job Description

The Automation Specialist plays a crucial role in achieving our purpose of being our customers' competitive advantage by providing technical expertise that will aid in developing, maintaining, and delivering technical solutions to customers and vendors. This role will be responsible for building and maintaining relationshiops with Rockwell Automation and other automation customers and vendors in collaboration with the Automation Managers, Account Managers, Sales Engineers, and fellow automation specialists. On a day-to-day basis this position will work closely with Account Managers, Sales Engineers, and Technical Support Center teams to provide high level technical support and ongoing solutions to customers.

  • Develop and maintain key relationships with suppliers
  • Sales of Rockwell PLCs, HMI, Software and Drives
  • Serves as the contact for Rockwell Automation and other automation suppliers
  • Participate in development and implementation of Automation business plan and account strategy for assigned products
  • Participate in automation commercial events
  • Provide customer assistance via telephone, email, and on-site assistance in alignment with our Automation Support Center
  • Develop, maintain, and deliver technical solutions and/or seminars to customers with attention to product lines and vendor offerings
  • Provide technical troubleshooting
  • Maintain technical expertise by participating in continual learning and industry specific technical training
  • Design, build, and program technical demonstration units


Required Skills
  • Strong desire/interest in to keep on the leading edge of technology
  • Ability to negotiate effectively at a high level and build strong relationships with customers, vendors and suppliers
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Significant knowledge of Rockwell Automation, electrical and automation industry necessary
  • Customer Focused; must be a resource & partner to our internal and external customers
  • Ability to learn quickly and transfer knowledge to others
  • Ability to lead small groups and instruct customer training sessions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills via phone, email and in person are required
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with internal and external customers
  • Self motivated to effectively analyze workload and juggle multiple priorities with strict deadlines
  • Ability to lead by example with a positive work ethic and attitude

Required Experience
  • 2 year technical degree or 4 year degree in related field of study or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience or exposure in a sales role
  • Knowledge of Allen-Bradley processes and products strongly preferred
