Our Mission: Enhancing Life in Agriculture and Rural America

Who We Are
AgStar Financial Services is a cooperative owned by our client-shareholders. We are directed by a 17-member Board of Directors. Our client stockholders elect fifteen directors, and the elected board appoints the outside director positions.

Who We Serve
We serve farmers, ranchers, agricultural-related enterprises with loans and related services. We also serve rural and small town residents with home, site and property loans. Our Rural Capital Network team is devoted to serving community and economic development, infrastructure needs and revitalization projects in Rural America as well.

AgStar is proud to be part of the Farm Credit System. As a Farm Credit entity, you are eligible for our loans, leases and related services if:

  • You are an individual or legal entity engaged in farming or ranching. Farming includes full- or part-time activities associated with raising and/or caring for livestock, grains, horses, fruits, vegetables, horticultural plants, timber and any other plants or animals in a for-profit business.
  • You have an agribusiness providing services directly related to agricultural production or you process and market agricultural products.
  • You are seeking financing for a residence in a rural area or town with a population under 2,500.
  • As part of the Farm Credit System, formed in 1916, we assist clients in our Local Service Area. We also serve leasing clients and agribusinesses throughout the Midwest.

What We Do
AgStar operates in 69 counties located in Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin, and we are one of the larger Farm Credit associations in the nation. Now serving more than 23,000 clients, we manage almost $8 billion in loan and lease assets with more than 610 dedicated team members.

We provide a full range of financial services, including accounting, appraisals, business management, consulting, farm cash management, fleet management and internet banking. Our financial products include a wide range of agricultural loans, leases, crop insurance, life insurance and home mortgages. And as a client-owned cooperative, we provide solid returns for our stockholders.

Careers
We're looking for bright, personable people ready to roll up their sleeves and put their skills to work. As a diversified financial lender, we often have employment opportunities in credit and business analysis, sales, commercial lending, farm lending, home mortgage, finance, accounting, insurance, tax records, consulting, legal, information technology, e-business, marketing, and other areas. We take pride in excellent team satisfaction scores and low turnover.

Corporate Giving
AgStar believes in giving back to those who live and work in the communities we serve. Through our corporate giving program, the AgStar Fund for Rural America, AgStar has donated more than $3 million to organizations, communities and individuals that share our same goals and passions about rural America.

We are proud to support organizations like FFA and 4-H. In 2012, we opened the AgStar Arena’s doors at the Minnesota State Fair. The AgStar Arena, a 27,000 square foot facility, will be used during the State Fair by 4-H, FFA and State Fair open class exhibitors, complementing activities at the Lee and Rose Warner Coliseum and the Horse and Cattle Barns. It is also available for extended seasonal use for equine and livestock shows. With this new arena, made possible by the Minnesota State Fair Foundation, the many corporate sponsors and individual contributors, we’ve seized an opportunity to demonstrate the vitality of our industry to thousands of 4-Hers and FFA members. These are young people passionate about agriculture and they are vital to the future of our industry.

Our AgStar Scholars Program is included in the AgStar Fund for Rural America. The Scholars Program awards selected students attending the University of Wisconsin, River Falls and University of Minnesota, St. Paul with a $2,000 scholarship for their academic achievements, leadership characteristics and ag-related community involvement. To be eligible, students must possess a GPA of a 3.0 or better, be a junior or third year college student and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in an agriculture or business related field. Applications must be submitted by mid-January to be considered for this opportunity. Please visit the AgStar Scholars Program page for more information.

Work Environment
AgStar has been recognized as one of the Star Tribune’s Top Workplaces in Minnesota for three years running. The list designates 100 of the best places to work in Minnesota based on employee opinions, company leadership and career opportunities, among other things. For the second year, AgStar Financial Services was ranked in the top ten, taking the seventh spot on the large employer list in 2013. We are appreciative of the recognition and continue to strive to be an employer of choice for current team members, as well as for students entering the workforce.

It’s no coincidence we have excellent retention, and team members consistently report strong satisfaction and engagement. AgStar offers a flexible work environment with an emphasis on work-life balance. We also provide training and career development opportunities for our team members to continually develop their knowledge, skills and abilities.
