Crisis Response Social Workers are responsible for providing coverage for telephone and on-site intervention to Dakota County residents experiencing a mental health, child welfare, community corrections, or financial crisis.

Currently, there are 2 vacancies available for this position:
1) Full-time, 40 hours per week; the schedule is Friday - Monday, hours TBD.
2) Part-time, 36 hours per week; this is an OVERNIGHT position; the schedule is Thursday to Sunday; Thursday 8:00pm - Friday 8:00am; Friday 8:00pm - Saturday 10:00am, and Saturday 11:00pm - Sunday 9:00am.

Minimum Qualifications

NEED TO HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or related Human Services degree
AND
One year full-time professional experience in a social services agency OR Two years full-time paraprofessional experience in a social services agency.
AND
Valid Driver's License

NICE TO HAVE QUALIFICATIONS: :
- Master's degree in Social Work or Psychology
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Experience working with adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses
- Knowledge of and experience with person - centered strategies.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

These examples do not include all possible tasks in this work and do not limit the assignment of related tasks in any position of this classification. Regular attendance according to the position's management approved work schedule is required for all positions.

1. Provide telephone or on-site intervention, as a team member of the Crisis Response Unit, 24 hours/day to Dakota County residents experiencing a mental health, child welfare, community corrections or financial crisis.
2. Assess and authorize least restrictive alternative to meet the safety needs of individuals experiencing a mental health emergency or children and parents in alleged maltreatment and family conflict crisis in accordance with Dakota County policies of providing community-based services.
3. Provide non-business hour coverage for child protection reporting; adult protection Common Entry Point reporting; and juvenile detention assessments, emergency food and shelter
4. Develop and implement all or part of a case plan, defining initial and ongoing measurable goals and objectives.
5. Provide, arrange, and coordinate direct services and advocacy to clients and families.
6. Facilitate, integrate, and mobilize community resources on behalf of the client. Develop services where needed resources do not exist.
7. Demonstrates a commitment to support cultural diversity County wide, actively supports the County's diversity initiatives, and works to address the needs of diverse and underrepresented communities.
8. Evaluate, document, and monitor progress toward goals and objectives.
9. Research, maintain, and apply knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, and statutes. Provide training and education to others.
10. Complete agency, state, and federal required documentation as related to client activity according to mandated timelines.
11. Closure of case management activity with client based on resolution of established goals and/or successful integration to community resources. Terminate activity with client when client requests closure or when involuntary closure is ordered.
12. Assist with pre-petition screenings, as well as Adult Mental Health and Vulnerable Adult assessments.
13. Maintain appropriate engagement and boundaries with clients and colleagues.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities and Work Environment

· Knowledge of child and human development, family dynamics and systems, including crisis management and cultural competency.
· Knowledge of community resources and funding sources.
· Knowledge of medical diagnoses, medications, and basic medical terminology, as well as medical insurance processes and procedures.
· Knowledge of statutes, rules, and policies pertaining to social work and the ability to research the same.
. Demonstrates an understanding of and respect for the diversity of customers, co-workers, and supervisors, including individuals with a disability or whose first language may be other than English.
· Interviewing, negotiation, and listening skills.
· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
. Ability to apply person-centered and recovery oriented principles.
. Knowledge of/ability to apply social work statutes to work with clients and colleagues.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a County office building and on client home visits. Some travel is required. Lifting requirement of up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis. Exposure to inadequate lighting may occur on client home visits. Equipment used may include, but is not limited to, computer, printer, telephone, cell phone, pager, audio/visual equipment, and copy and fax machines.
