MN350 is a dynamic, volunteer-led grassroots organization building a people's movement to demand that Minnesota take a leadership role in addressing the climate crisis in a just and sustainable way.

We are seeking creative, energetic interns to take on key communications roles, including:

• Supporting strategic campaigns

• Writing and designing content for use on our website, in newsletters, and on social media

• Designing outreach materials such as flyers and posters

• Producing video or text interviews of volunteers to help them tell their climate movement stories

• Writing blog posts, news releases, letters to the editors, and op-eds
  

• Calling reporters and sending news releases

In this role, you will use your communications skills to support MN350's campaign teams.

Big Oil's Big Deception

Mounting evidence shows that oil companies knew as early as the 1960s that burning the fossil fuels they sell and promote to Minnesotans would create dangerous climate change. In response to this knowledge, oil companies embarked on multi-billion dollar disinformation campaigns, lying to the media, politicians, and the public. Our Big Deception campaign aims to launch a statewide conversation about climate accountability in response to Attorney General Keith Ellison's lawsuit against ExxonMobil, Koch Industries and the American Petroleum Institute.

Clean Transportation

The Clean Transportation team advocates for zero-emission policies that can save money and protect our health and climate. We're organizing everyday Minnesotans and communities for clean air, a stable climate, and a just economic transition from our dirty fuel economy.

Food Systems

The Food Systems Team is building a just transition to a food system that is local, equitable toward all who depend on it, and mindful of its impact on future generations. We're working to advance campaigns in regenerative agriculture, food waste, plant-rich diets, food policy, and more.

People's Climate & Equity Plan (AKA the Green New Deal for Minneapolis)

Our communities need a federal jobs guarantee, a Green New Deal that will invest in our health and wellness, and protect our climate. The Green New Deal team is working to tell the story of what's possible, and organizing to make sure that everyone has access to the green economy of the future, no exceptions.

Pipeline Resistance

MN350's Pipeline Resistance Team seeks to help reverse the climate crisis and bring about a more just world through mass movement work to stop fossil fuel infrastructure, especially the tar sands pipelines that cross our state. We engage in education, advocacy, event planning, nonviolent direct action, mutual aid, coalition building, and other creative tactics to shut off the supply of fossil fuels, accelerating the transition to more equitable and lower carbon solutions that let people live a good life without oil or gas. We strive to foster a healthy, just, and growing movement, where allied individuals and groups are supported, with a shared understanding that we are all treaty people.

Policy Action

MN350's Policy Action Team mobilizes supporters across Minnesota to communicate with their state legislators about climate change, clean renewable energy and climate justice. We work to make the legislative process more transparent by keeping Minnesotans informed and engaged so we can hold decision-makers accountable.

Transit for Justice

Mass transit can't just be a public service - it needs to be a revolutionary force for racial and climate justice. The Transit Justice team is working toward community-led transit safety, and clean, accessible and reliable transit options.

Treaty Rights

The land now known as Minnesota is the ancestral home of the Anishinaabe, Dakota, and Ho-Chunk people. Through a nation-to-nation process, Native People and the United States entered into multiple treaties between 1805 and 1867. Through deliberate policies, corruption and false promises the United States stole this land from Native Peoples. Despite the ongoing attempts to destroy or assimilate, Native People remain, still connected to this land, and continuing to expect everyone -- Native and non-Native -- to fulfill their treaty responsibilities.

• Hours: 8-15 hours / week
• Timeline: September-December 2022 (Start and end dates flexible based on your school schedule)
• This internship is unpaid
• This internship is primarily remote, with optional in-person experiences dictated by health and work requirements
