Job Description
Basic Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) related field, Agile experience preferred, plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

As a Sr Nuclear Surety Engineer supporting Strategic Communications and Deterrent, you'll participate in requirements analysis, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, trade studies, systems integration and test (verification) in the development and evaluation of networks and information systems. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

  • Performs planning and oversight for large scale system safety program
  • Provides representation at external working groups and customer meetings
  • Subject matter expert on system safety risk assessments
  • Performs and leads systems safety analyses and risk assessments for weapon control systems and subsystems
  • Expected to have an understanding of a complex computer electronics systems.
  • Develops the generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle.
  • Plans and executes project tasks for activities described above, supports cross product safety teams, and can perform duties independently.
  • Some travel required

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Safety and Surety standards and policy knowledge, process and training development
  • Safety program planning and oversight
  • Knowledge of Prevention through Design (PtD) methodologies through Life-Cycle phases
  • Complete understanding of Hazard Analyses as defined in MIL-STD-882E or equivalent
  • Experience in developing engineering design and technical documentation including safety requirements, design, and test; Safety Analyses (e.g. PHA, SHA, SSHA, SRHA, SRCA, O&SHA, FHA); Safety Assessment Reports (SARs), Safety Case Presentations (Review Boards, Customer, Design)
  • Processing hazards from identification through acceptance by customer stakeholders
  • Experience developing Nuclear Surety Hazard Risk Assessments or similar
  • Systems Engineering Experience
  • Airforce Surety Artifact Generation through Surety Certification (Bonus for this project)

What you bring to the table:
  • A Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree; Agile experience preferred
  • Solid knowledge of systems engineering concepts, principles and theories
  • Solid knowledge of requirements management and system modeling tools
  • Familiarity with technical standards

Target salary range: USD $166,500.00/Yr. - USD $184,700.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary.
