EXECUTIVE OFFICE

The Executive Office plays an integral role in setting and advancing Goldman Sachs' corporate strategy, and in preserving the firm's distinctive culture. We are responsible for safeguarding the firm's relationship with alumni, clients, shareholders, policy makers, and the broader public, while ensuring that our own people remain informed about the firm's evolving priorities. We also partner with the businesses to source high-impact opportunities in line with the firm's social and sustainability agendas.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

The COO group within Global Marketing is responsible for marketing strategy, communications, and operations, setting direction for the function, partnering with the CMO on their top-priority initiatives, driving collaboration across the COE and revenue division marketing teams, and ensuring executional excellence. The team develops the strategic vision for the function, sets objectives and establishes tenets, articulates and communicates the mission and vision, and acts as the conduit to other leadership teams around the firm. As GS continues to invest and grow its marketing team, it is critical that we develop a firmwide approach and process for areas such as budgeting, campaign development, agency briefing and management, tracking and measurement, and knowledge sharing.

Role Summary

This VP will play a key role on the COO team to develop communications platforms and touchpoints for the Global Marketing organization, in order to bring together the group around strategy and key messages; share marketing wins with senior management and other stakeholders; and position marketing as a modern, innovative team for recruits and the industry at large. This VP will establish the communications rhythms and employee engagement plan for the new Firmwide org, from emails to town halls and beyond, helping to establish a culture based on transparency and feedback. As well, the VP will work closely with the Chief Marketing Officer on their external speaking engagements, panels, press, and social media presence. This VP will also have a hand in numerous ad hoc priority projects, from new Firmwide initiatives requiring marketing and communications support. All roles on the COO team will coordinate and liaise with multiple teams from within the function and interface with senior-most marketing and divisional leadership.

Position Responsibilities

    Develop, articulate, and implement communications and employee engagement plan for the new Global Marketing function
  • Manage internal communications of initiatives across marketing, ensuring successful adoption of new strategy and operational practices; lead external communications for function vis-a-vis conferences and trade press engagement, in partnership with Media Relations team
  • Own regular cadence of team updates and build out processes to ensure teams are aware of key initiatives
  • Manage internal team-wide email communications, executive updates, town halls, and other forms for knowledge sharing
  • Develop and manage centralized repository of team communications, knowledge sharing, case studies, and other collateral
  • Manage CMO and other marketing leadership team speaking engagements; leverage marketing leadership social presences to share updates and reach prospective talent
  • Showcase marketing team initiatives by developing compelling materials for GS board, senior-level committees, One GS working groups, and the function overall
  • Evaluate marketing industry memberships and organizations, and lead the sponsorship approach ensuring the GS marketing team leverages and participates in opportunities

Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of experience in marketing, employee communications, PR, or field/function directly related to the role
  • Experience building frameworks and presentations; designing materials for senior leadership review and buy-in; developing communications plans
  • Expertise storytelling around complex narratives and topics through clear and compelling presentations, written overviews, and other formats
  • Detail-oriented problem-solver who is able to employ leadership, critical thinking, and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral - copywriting experience a plus
  • Highly collaborative, team-oriented, and strong consensus builder with confidence in interaction with senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure; able to manage and execute effectively on multiple, time-sensitive projects, with keen sense of urgency
  • Experience in Financial Services industry and/or Marketing function preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) and/or graduate degree
