CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS

INTERN, COMMUNICATIONS

Reports to: Manager, Public Relations

Internship Programs Dates: 10 week program starting May 25th and ending July 30th.

Location: Chicago

Intern Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day admin of Blackhawks media list including building and researching broader contact list beyond Chicago and traditional hockey reporters (e.g. lifestyle, sports business, etc.)
  • Assist with writing and support of all PR/Marketing Communications as needed, including drafting news releases, fact sheets, briefing materials, press kits/mailers, etc.
  • Actively monitor media coverage and develop coverage recaps for Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Blackhawks Foundation initiatives (prior knowledge of Cision Communications Cloud technology is a plus)
  • Compile research and competitive media analysis reports to identify key trends and stay on top of buzzworthy news in Chicago, across the NHL and around the sports & entertainment industry
  • Support and help coordinate daily management of intranet for employee-facing news and updates


Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Recent college graduate or current student (Junior/Senior) pursuing degree in Strategic Communications, Public Relations, Media Relations or equivalent preferred
  • Familiar with the public relations, marketing, or communications discipline through past coursework, internships, or personal experiences
  • Strong verbal communicator and writer with a passion for and understanding of public relations and traditional and social media landscape
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
  • Self-starter
  • Intrinsically motived person
