Job/Internship Description

After School Matters provides Chicago high school teens with high quality, after-school and summer opportunities to explore and develop their talents while gaining critical skills for work, college and beyond. Since 1991, more than 350,000 teens have participated in our hands-on, project-based after-school and summer programs in the arts, communications and leadership, sports and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Programs take place at locations throughout the city including Chicago public high schools, Chicago Park District and Chicago Public Library locations, community organizations, downtown at the Gallery 37 Center for the Arts, in Belmont Cragin at our Michael and Karyn Lutz Center for After School Matters, and in the Pullman community at the new Gately Center for After School Matters. Summary of Position:

This position will support the Program Operations Department with a wide range of projects related to the Teen Application and general technical support. This position is a good fit for someone who is detail-oriented and interested in learning about project management, organizational systems, and technical customer support.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Answer teen and instructor emails and calls regarding the ASM Teen Application
  • Assist central office staff and instructors with basic functions within our internal participant tracking system
  • Create and maintain supporting documentation and knowledge-based articles (how-to guides) regarding the Teen Application and participant tracking system
  • Answer teen and instructor emails and calls regarding Google Classroom and Google Meet technical issues
  • Create Excel spreadsheets via exports from After School Matters database
  • Complete manual data entry when required
  • Support team with administrative tasks (e.g. mail merges)
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills preferred
  • Experience with technical troubleshooting or application development a plus

Qualifications:

  • (1)GED/HS Diploma and two years of work experience or (2)one year of college required
  • Experience with technical support preferred
