Operates imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by the Radiologist, Clinical Coordinator or appropriate corresponding Lead Imaging Technologist.
Education & Experience:
- Associate's Degree or equivalent from a two year college or technical school or six (6) months to one (1) year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Knowledge of anatomical positioning and human physiology (as appropriate to modality) required.
- Knowledge of radiation protection as warranted.
Licensure & Certification:
- Licensure as a Radiographer in the State of Maryland required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- National Board Certification required.
- Advanced Certification in CT required.
Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of anatomical positioning and human physiology (as appropriate to modality) required.
- Knowledge of radiation protection as warranted.
- The ability to ensure the confidentiality and rights of all patient and departmental documents as required.
- The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form with patients, physicians, health system officials, other health system personnel and the general public is essential.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts in order to select appropriate technical factors.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret physicians' orders and other written communications methods of the health care team is essential.
Physical Demands
Will work in a clean, well-lighted environment. The job requires pushing and pulling and lifting of equipment weighing in excess of 100 lbs. up to 40% of the time. Requires lifting and positioning of patients weighing up to 400 lbs. with the assistance of other staff members, up to 60% of the time. The position requires walking and standing 75% of the time, and requires carrying of supplies and other items.
