Description

We are currently seeking a talented individual for transportation design in either our Baton Rouge, LA or our New Orleans, LA office. This position will serve as a design lead for local roads, arterial streets, and highway projects. The responsibilities will include: engineering report preparation, interchange and intersection studies and design, and construction plan and specification development. The candidate must be able to work effectively within a team, delegate design tasks, mentor staff engineer-interns, and communicate regularly with clients and federal, state, and local agencies. The candidate must possess a proven track record of successful transportation project development and design. This position also offers exciting challenges and opportunities for assisting in transportation market project management, business development and participating in professional organizations.

Essential duties include:

  •  Roadway design and modeling.
  • Airport design experience is not required but considered advantageous.
  • Preparation of detailed sequence of construction plans.
  • Prepares and checks design computations, design plans, and quantity estimates.
  • Use of computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
  • Coordination with regulatory agencies, utility companies and sub-consultants to obtain information, guidance, and requirements.
  •  Lead the design of projects with a team of engineers and designers.
  • Adhere to project budgets.
  • Adhere to project schedules.
  • Project management experience and skills are advantageous to the candidate but are not required. 
  • Attend onsite and offsite client meetings.
  • Adhere to company standards for quality assurance and quality control as defined in the quality manual.

Background requirements include:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Must possess 5 to 10 years of relevant transportation engineering work experience designing roadway projects for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development
  • Louisiana Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Proficient with Microstation, InRoads Select Series 2, and CADConform is required.
  • Experience with Open Roads Designer is a plus, but not required
  • Strong oral communication and technical writing skills
