Job Description

About the Role

Responsible for management and leadership in the development and implementation of health economics and reimbursement activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Develop practical strategies and tactics to secure optimal reimbursement and coverage for BSC products and the procedures they enable.
  2. Develop, implement, and manage health economics and reimbursement activities for BSC working with divisional staff and key internal and external stakeholders:
  3. Implement and manage activities required to achieve health economics and reimbursement strategic objectives (e.g., preparation of economic and reimbursement dossiers for payer negotiations, new code applications, customer billing guides).
  4. Identify key health economics needs for BSC platform products, working with health economics and outcomes research colleagues to determine actions required.
  5. Assess reimbursement opportunities and challenges facing the division's emerging technologies and commercially marketed products and communicate business impact to senior management.
  6. Work with new product development teams to ensure health economics and reimbursement needs are incorporated into product development plans and timelines; ensure all necessary new product development deliverables are completed on time and on budget.
  7. Provide reimbursement support to sales force and key external stakeholders (e.g., hospitals, clinicians, investigator sites, professional societies) as appropriate.
  8. Provide appropriate in-service training to sales, marketing, clinical, regulatory, and legal to increase awareness and understanding of health economics and reimbursement competencies and their role in supporting a product's success.

  10. Monitor policy developments that impact the reimbursement of BSC products.
  11. Build relationships in key markets with government, physician, hospital, and third-party payer decision makers.
  12. May lead a group or team of employees in the achievement of organizational goals. Guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports, and if applicable, drive those practices throughout their organization.
  13. Foster a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives.
  14. May direct and control the activities and budget of one or more functional areas, divisions, product groups, projects/programs and/or operations.

What we're looking for:

  • The successful candidate will have excellent technical skills in the areas of health economics and reimbursement. The position requires the candidate to be current in the field and able to work in a wide array of settings.

  • Minimum 5-7 years in reimbursement, health economics and/or outcomes research, preferably with experience working with new medical technologies in the medical device or pharmaceutical arena.
  • Masters degree or higher (e.g., MS, MPH, MBA, PhD, DrPH, JD) or equivalent. Formal training in health economics, public health, health services research, policy analysis, epidemiology, biostatistics, health care administration or related discipline preferred.
  • Management experience leading functional and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. and global healthcare systems including expertise in health care financing, reimbursement policies related to the device industry, and technology assessment.
  • Strong communications skills and experience developing interpersonal relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to make effective decisions independently and to work in a fast-paced matrix environment with minimal supervision.
