Intern/Co-Op Program Description:
Terracon Consulting is now accepting applications for our 2019 paid summer internship/co-op program. This position will work in our Geotechnical Engineering Department in our Sacramento, CA office. This internship will prove to be a life experience that you will look back on fondly for years, and you will learn technical engineering principles that will help to serve you throughout your career.
In this program, you will take part in an exciting, fun and meaningful work experience as you work along-side some of the brightest engineering minds and state of the art technology in the geotechnical engineering industry. You will not only learn and advance technically, but will also be provided with opportunities for professional development. You will be assigned a leader/mentor in the geotechnical engineering field. The mentor will provide help you with career planning along with technical skill development. You will learn how our line of business interacts with the client and how we interact with a project team. You will learn what consulting engineering is all about!
Duties of interns will include work in the laboratory and also perform field testing, sampling, and inspection activities as well as other office activities. Your experiences will include learning, understanding, and performing services related to:
- Laboratory safety and safe work practices
- All aspects of our laboratory testing capabilities and the purpose of each test
- Understanding test procedures (ASTM, DOT, COE, etc.)
- Data review
- Report preparation
- Communication of test results (internal and external)
* Provides assistance to other field and/or laboratory personnel
* Will be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments.
* Work environment will include approximately 40% field, 40% laboratory, 20% office.
* Some travel is required.
To Qualify:
High school diploma and currently enrolled in ABET accredited engineering program, focusing in civil engineering, geology or a related field( environmental science, engineering, chemistry, biology) and obtained a 2.5 G.P.A. or better. The ideal candidate will have one year remaining to complete their BS degree. Clean DMV.
