HDR is a leader in the use and adoption of transportation technologies to improve mobility and reduce congestion. We are expanding our team to include a focus on new approaches to transportation that integrate energy, vehicles, communications, and highway infrastructures into a more flexible, efficient, and convenient network of electric roads and vehicles. We are committed to being pioneers and advancing the state-of-the-art in technologies on behalf of our clients using our core expertise in highway, pavement and bridge design to accompany new advances in technologies such as inductive electric vehicle charging systems. We are seeking a self-starting individual who is an expert in how electrification of the vehicle fleet can be incorporated into the design of future highways and pavements. Importantly, while knowledge of wireless electric vehicle charging using Inductive Power Transfer, magnetic resonance, and associated technologies is important, so too is an understanding of how these technologies need to be integrated into the highway and pavement network. While exceptional candidates with a background in wired or static electric vehicle charging systems will be considered, we are specifically seeking expertise and understanding of how dynamic inductive charging systems can be embedded in pavements. A background in the application of electrification of roadway surfaces for vehicle charging is critical.
As a leader on this new team, you would be in an environment where there is the introduction of new technologies, requiring driving to closure of high levels of undefined/unknown customer/marketing requirements and implementation approaches. You will: assess competing solutions and make appropriate choices and recommendations supporting new technology development initiatives and other critical projects. Provide technical guidance to more junior engineers, and lead development activities. Develop, maintain, and track design documents/requirements/specifications for in-house products. Follow and improve development processes/procedures, and provide input to Sr. Management regarding technology trends/directions.
