Current vacancy is part-time, (16 hr/pp) non-benefit earning working Mon - Friday or week-ends only. This position will work Day/Evening shifts, between the hours of 10:30 am - 7:00 pm. On-line applications will be accepted until August 4, 2010.

Responsibilities
* Checks menu and recipe set-ups to be sure that all ingredients are present in sufficient quantities.
* Reads menus and assignment sheets to plan work each day to accomplish all tasks.
* Responds to patient meal tickets and prepares items quickly and accurately.
* Prepares meal selections according to order and diet.
* Records data for HACCP documentation and food safety.
* Maintains HACCP record files
* Maintain safe and sanitary work areas.
* Operates, cleans and maintains all kitchen food preparation equipment in a safe manner.
* Equipment includes but is not limited to: ovens, combi-ovens, deep fryers, conveyor oven, grill, knives, mixers, slicers, pump-fill station, large and small kettles, tilt fryer, blenders, food processors, can-openers, warming ovens, micro wave oven, hot steam wells, steamer, grinder, toaster.
* Works as a productive team member with other cooks and employees in other service operations.
* Prepares product following standardized recipes using proper safe food handling procedures.
* Handles raw foods according to safe food handling procedures.
* Chills and stores cooked foods according to HACCP procedures.
* Assists in cost containment by handling foods to avoid waste and using proper portioning.
* Performs quality and quantity checks for daily menu preparations.
Qualifications
* Two years of experience with full dinner cooking responsibility on a moderately large scale (i.e., health/hospital setting - 300+ beds, business industrial setting - 500 meals);
* Or an approved equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred:
* Equivalent of four years of high school with completion of on-the-job training in principles of food cooking.
* Minimum of two years of some formal or on-the-job training in food preparation, cooking, and principles of sanitation and safety.
* Previous experience in a health care setting is desired or 2 years cooking & baking experience in a restaurant.
* ServSafe Certification Preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Good knowledge of preparation of a variety of foods; good knowledge of the operation of kitchen appliances; some knowledge of sanitation standards.
* Working ability to prepare a variety of foods; working ability to operate kitchen appliances; working ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
* Working skill in preparing a variety of foods from a menu.
