Description

This is a Hybrid Position which requires periodic work within our facility in Owatonna, MN. The hybrid schedule includes a working schedule where you would alternate between working remotely and in the office. Therefore, candidates must reside within reasonable drivable distance to the facility in Owatonna, MN.

Our team in Owatonna, MN is seeking a Payroll Specialist to contribute to Wenger Corporation's strategy of providing an exceptional customer experience by accurately processing and administering assigned payroll functions while meeting all necessary deadlines.

At a minimum you will need:

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field from a 2-year college or technical school

  • 2-4 years related payroll processing experience

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Proven Microsoft Office experience, including Advanced Excel skills

  • High level of interpersonal and discretionary skills to provide excellent customer care and maintain confidentiality

  • Understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.

  • Ability to work independently, as a team, and prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.

  • Commitment to on-going professional development in support of career pathway, continuous process improvement, and department and company objectives.

It would be great if you also have:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferred

  • Two (2) years of experience using an HRIS

A typical day may include:

  • Processing weekly payrolls.

  • Providing surge support for bi-weekly payroll as necessary and processes quarterly.

  • Managing timecard data for completeness and accuracy for all payrolls.

  • Maintaining accurate records in HRIS and payroll files as necessary.

  • Appling 401k funding as needed.

  • Administering state payroll taxes and necessary compliance for unemployment and worker's compensation.

  • Administering voluntary and involuntary termination process in HRIS.

  • Tracking missed payroll deductions and coordinating payback schedule with team members.

  • Conducting payroll, benefits, and HR-related audits as assigned.

  • Responding to payroll-related questions and concerns.

  • Assisting with Leaves of Absences and updates timecards accordingly.

  • Supporting and administering Worker's Compensation filing, reporting, audits, and updates to HRIS.

  • Processing OSHA and BLS reports.

  • Adheres to all workplace and trade safety laws, regulations, standards, and practices.
