Director of Innovation and Technology Services

TYPE OF POSITION:
Director, 230 duty days

REPORTS TO:
Assistant Superintendent

SUPERVISION:
Technology Integrationists/Media Specialists, District Technicians

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a field related to instructional technology
Experience
  • Participation in ISTE, MASA, COSN, or applicable professional organization
  • Direct experience leading work in the area of instructional technology
  • Project management experience
  • Licensed classroom teaching experience
Preferred
  • CETL certification or CETL certification in progress
  • Three or more years of experience as a technology director in an instructional setting
  • Experience supervising technical staff

  • Strong communication skills including writing, speaking and listening
  • Ability to work with diverse groups

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Instructional Technology reports to the Assistant Superintendent and is responsible for:
  • Development, implementation, and evaluation of instructional technology to support teachers, curriculum, and district school programs
  • Aligning current and emerging technologies to district programs and schools
  • Execution of the vision of instructional technology
  • Oversight of technology training and infusion into the instructional areas

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Direct the integration of media technology skills with Pre K - 12 curriculum standards, ensuring the development and alignment of the media literacy standards
  • Promote the effective and appropriate use of technology in instruction
  • Represent the district at area or state meetings which focus on instructional technology; present information as requested
  • Direct and oversee the budget for technology integration and technology training
  • Assist in the hiring process for the selection and assignment of building instructional technology staff in cooperation with Assistant Superintendent and building principals
  • Oversee evaluation of technology integrationists as part of the evaluation process; direct the annual evaluation of instructional technology employees
  • Assist in the development and execution of the district technology vision
  • Direct program support for building media specialists, ensure connecting of technology to teaching and learning and advise staff on matters related to the use of technology in instruction
  • Plan and implement district technology training
  • Lead and direct the work of the District Technicians
  • Lead the technology support team in providing timely and effective technical assistance to staff, students, and administrators.
  • Establish and maintain efficient process for troubleshooting, ticket resolution, and technology repair/replacement
  • Oversee the management of technology assets, including hardware, software, and licensing agreements
  • Develop and implement professional development programs to enhance staff's technology proficiency
  • Connect technology to the district instructional leadership team and the district's strategic plan
  • Prepare staff for the use of this technology
  • Lead multifaceted implementations such as the "one-to-one" program that involves technical support, professional development, alignment and infusion with teaching & learning, policy development, and steering committees involving all stake holders
  • Other duties as assigned
