At Daikin Applied, as the Director of Engineering Processes will report to the Program Management Office and be responsible for improving Daikin Applied America's overall product development lifecycle by embedding a continuous improvement and lean product development culture. This position will work directly with our product development teams to improve our processes, tools, and systems to fully unleash their productivity.

A Day in the Life:

  • Demonstrate expert level competence in understanding the full end-to-end aspects of the product development lifecycle.
  • Be a lean champion and innovative thought leader, focusing on driving standardization, simplification, and digitalization for & across the product development lifecycle.
  • Demonstrate and deploy Lean principles to ensure continuous improvement and execution of Agile practices.
  • Lead and coordinate engineering improvement projects, report progress, and ensure project closure to drive growth and productivity goals.
  • Drive a thorough understanding of process improvement strategies and methodologies, with a focus on Lean Hardware Product Development.
  • Train, mentor, and guide team members to improve engineering competencies and organizational capabilities e.g. Process Maps, SlPOCs, RACI, and supporting analytics.
  • Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders to enhance productivity and staff engagement and satisfaction.
  • Effectively communicate ideas and concepts to communicate a clear organizational vision.
  • Lead communication of engineering continuous improvement initiatives across the organization and perform periodic audits to ensure the process is consistent.
  • Lead monthly/quarterly process improvement meetings.
  • Create the vision and strategy that drives continuous improvement in terms of New Product Development, Cost Reduction productivity gains, and best practices to ensure consistent product quality across all functions and facilities.
  • Provide oversight for all Engineering Continuous Improvement projects.

What you will Bring:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, and Project Management, working across engineering, operations, supply chain, and sales, with a proven track record influencing the end-to-end product development process.
  • Experience as a recognized leader in Lean Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement methodologies with experience in successfully deploying enterprise-wide system solutions and initiatives.

Desired Experience

  • Strong cross-functional knowledge of quality and design engineering, manufacturing, specifications, testing, and inspections.
  • Superior interpersonal & communication skills with a unique ability to influence people, articulate ideas, and lead highly productive technical teams.
  • Executive presence demonstrated by leadership characteristics of self-motivation, confidence, influence, integrity, and professional savvy.
  • Demonstrated practical application of Root Cause Corrective Actions methods such as Six Sigma, Red-X, and Lean product development practices, Agile, SCRUM
  • Track record of successful project management or team leadership experience.
  • Ability to quantify results, lead change, and interface at all levels of the organization.
  • Travel on an as-needed basis; 10% annually.
