Position Summary:

Functions as a recognized expert, providing authoritative professional guidance to staff within a specific area of service. The managed care pharmacist is responsible for performing various clinical duties related to utilization management of specialty (injectable) medications. This includes but not limited to reviewing and rendering coverage determinations based on clinical criteria and health plan DOFRs (Division of Financial Responsibility). The pharmacist will provide in depth clinical expertise to physicians and nurses for UCI Health. In addition, assumes immediate responsibility for the clinical investigation of new drugs in the specialty. The pharmacist will undertake tasks and projects to identify opportunities to improve therapeutic and financial outcomes. Incumbents will lecture two times per year to other medical professionals and be published at least one time every three years in a medical journal. May be a co-principal investigator on patient clinical research, or an investigator on Pharmacy practice research.

Salary Range:

Annual Rate Minimum $123,500.00 Midpoint $182,700.00 Maximum $241,900.00

Required Qualifications:

Minimum four years of clinical experience as a licensed pharmacist, or two years experience & a Residency

Expertise in Pharmacotherapy, Residency preferred

Current BLS or ACLS certification

Licenses and Certifications:

Registered Pharmacist(Required)

Preferred Qualifications:

Significant experience (more than 2 years) developing and implementing drug utilization programs for both inpatient and outpatient populations

Effective presentation skills
