Summary

The 2nd Shift Lead is responsible for leading personnel on our second shift operations (4 - 10hr shifts) to ensure maximization of efficiencies with personnel, tooling, equipment, and processes. The 2nd Shift Lead is responsible for employee communication, planning, training, coaching, motivating, and maintaining accountabilities per Endurable organizational policies and procedures. This position is a working Lead position that will be hands on working on the floor with various departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assigns and schedules work to meet customer requirements and ensures resources are assigned to meet production schedules. Recommends staffing levels needed to support business levels. Be responsible for absence reporting and tracking of personnel attendance on a daily basis. Reviews drawings and creates organization for production paperwork including interprets drawings and specifications, prepare materials for processing, communicates requirements to department personnel, and initiates improvements needed to ease manufacturing. Provide employee training to support job function requirements, including new hire training checklists and new hire check-in reviews. Provide documentation of these reviews to support organizational objectives. Responsible for establishing and maintaining productivity goals and daily tracking to support production efficiencies. Process daily paperwork to support operations for product identification, tracking and processing. Maintain material segregation and labeling on defective or on hold material. Review and develop new ideas to develop continuous improvement initiatives with managing production tracking and paperwork. Aid department personnel to trouble shoot and resolve problems as they arise. Work directly with other departments to resolve collaboratively. Ensure that quality daily checklists are being completed for safe use of equipment and PPE equipment and provide for any maintenance required. Detect issues in efficiency and suggest continuous improvements. Support 5S initiatives and objectives with consistent monitoring and accountability feedback. Communicate quality expectations and monitor outputs. Any quality defects should be identified, and corrective actions taken as appropriate. Prepare and plan for shift transition communication including specific productivity and job information details. Coach and develop direct reports to maximize efficiencies and work attendance per organizational policies and procedures. Prepare employee annual reviews and any appropriate disciplinary reports. Always conduct yourself in a professional and respectful manner with all Endurable internal and external customers. Perform other duties and respond to requests in a timely manner as requested.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a leadership role and work experience within manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to motivate employees and develop strong working relationships.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization and ability to teach, coach and mentor.
  • Proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office programs preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work in a safe manner.
  • Demonstrates ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints and specifications, material property and company standards and operating instructions.
  • Demonstrates ability to use and operate hand tools.
  • Demonstrates experience with manufacturing and aluminum components.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of basic math and the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to use and read a tape measure to the 32nd.
  • Ability to identify safety issues in their work area and notice equipment malfunctions.
  • Ability to understand basic verbal and written instructions in English.
