    Full-time, full-year position located at the District Service Center.
    This position will be placed on an individual letter of assignment that provides for a regionally competitive benefits package.
    Initial salary range is $65,000-$75,000 with actual placement depending upon experience and qualifications.

    Summary/Primary Objective of Position:
    To oversee, manage and administer Special Education bus routing. Is responsible for ensuring compliance with District policies/procedures and driver and student bus safety practices. Team administers the bus fee collection system with related accounting functions and maintenance of department records for state-mandated student reporting and programs for bus safety. Provide backup for Regular Ed Transportation Router.

    Job Responsibilities:
    1. Oversees the Special Education routing system for the District, two nonpublic schools and several out of district special needs schools.
    2. Interprets and communicates District transportation policies and procedures to schools, parents, bus companies and other departments. Coordinates and communicates with bus company managers to monitor bus drivers' performance and student safety.
    3. Helps execute the bus fee system in accordance with policies and fees established by the School Board, including creating the bus pass, updating the district website online transportation fee area and collecting the bus fees.
    4. Provide backup for the Regular Ed Router.
    5. Works with the team to schedules and coordinates materials to schools for the state required "Onboard Bus Safety Class" and maintains the student "Bus Misbehavior Report" program for each school. Reviews yearly kindergarten registration data.
    6. Determines eligibility, under state-mandated policy, of out-of-district nonpublic school students to ensure contract compliance for transportation reimbursement. Calculates payment and prepares documents for submission to the School Board for approval.
    7. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

    Position Specific Responsibilities Might Include:
    1. Designs and updates department materials provided to schools, parents, and contractors.
    2. Revises the District map by contacting local municipalities to obtain new street additions plats, changes, and submit changes to the map consultant for changes. Creates the streets in the geographic area in the Verstan routing system.
    3. Helps maintain department files (driver MVR's, student misbehavior reports and in and out of district nonpublic school information).
    4. Compiles and distributes detailed records of busing schedules and student information to schools, and contractors on a regular basis.
    5. Analyzes the system to anticipate problems including overloads, timing of runs/routes, inappropriate or unsafe stops.
    6. Reviews and authorizes bus route changes requested by bus drivers or parents.
    7. Helps coordinates and implements the bus pass information mailing.
    8. Trains and instructs bus company employees in use of Versatran routing system.
    9. Collaborates with Versatran routing system representatives to solve problems with the routing system.
    10. Determines the proper coding for MARSS and Transportation to ensure correct download to Skyward.
    11. Attends the monthly Versatran user group meetings for the department.

    Job Qualifications:
    1. Experience in computerized bus scheduling system (e.g., Versatran).
    2. Evidence of computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
    3. Evidence of excellent human relations and problem solving skills.
    4. Demonstrated ability to work with a minimum of supervision and in a team environment.
    5. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
    6. Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

    Physical Requirements:
    Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
    Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
