Job Description

Primary Objective & Scope of Position:   
Provide proactive administration of business insurance lines in collaboration with Slumberland’s insurance cooperative, our employees, vendors and organizational practices to drive improvement, reduce risk, and ensure legal compliance. 

Partners and reports to the Loss Prevention Manger to monitor and protect organizational assets.
 




Management of Business Insurance Lines
 

  • Oversees coverage of business lines through and in partnership with Slumberland’s insurance  cooperative and provides an accounting of their status and risk assessment.
  • Communicates to business units and Affinity cooperative on a regular basis regarding claims status, audit results or other factors affecting overall risk and loss prevention performance.
  • Reviews insurance coverage lines to ensure cost containment and audit of trends and compliance.
 
Risk Management/Claims Administration
 
  • Compiles and submits reports of injuries, costs, claims, billing, annual OSHA, security system and other applicable workers’ compensation,  property, general liability, or customer damage reporting.
  • Conducts investigations, presents solutions to resolve disputed or litigated claims and contain costs.
  • Serves as a contact for occupational clinics and the workability status of employee claims.
  • Reviews and monitors employee workability reports.
  • Consults with employees, Human Resources, and service providers to promote a return to work transition.
 
Risk Reduction
 
  • Develop, interpret and report on methods and initiatives to drive improvement and reduce risk within the organization.
  • Plan and support  training programs to promote safety, best practices, risk awareness and identify areas for correction or improvement.
  • Coordinates and/or conducts inspections to detect existing or potential hazards inclusive of facility, job analysis or equipment and recommends corrective or preventive actions in conjunction with Loss Prevention Manager.
  • Assists with organizational security measures, system monitoring and/or reporting as assigned.
  • Provides support and back up of Loss Prevention Manager.
 
Best Practice Initiatives
 
  • Identifies trends and incorporates wellness and other best practices into company initiatives.
  • Interprets laws and regulations and applies to company programs to ensure compliance.
  • Negotiates or settles claims to foster cost containment, promote a return to work philosophy and ensures continuity of company practices and risk management goals.
