Therapeutic Recreation Director

Job Description
Redeemer Health & Rehab Center is a well-established facility of Elim Care ministering to 127 residents in Minneapolis. We seek an experienced individual with a passion for senior services for our full-time Director of Therapeutic Recreation. The Director will plan and implement resident activity plans and goals designed to create an environment which encourages residents to function at their optimum capabilities.
Responsibilities:
Recognize the importance of resident activities and encourage cooperation with all departments
Present related in-services to staff as needed
Plan and implement residents’ activity plan goals
Prepare and evaluate care plans
Be aware of safety issues and strive to accomplish all responsibilities in a safe manner
Qualifications:
Must have Therapeutic Recreation Certification, or degree in related field
Proven leadership, communication and interpersonal skills with a diverse resident and employee population
Creative and enthusiastic attributes with the ability to interact effectively with residents, families, volunteers, and staff
Experience with MDS; use of Matrix software for care planning a plus
Experience in geriatrics, behavioral and dementia programming preferred
Experience in an area of specialty such as music therapy, creative arts therapy or similar abilities preferred
Licensed and experience in driving resident van preferred
The ideal candidate will be results and people oriented, and advocate the team concept.
