Job Description
POSITION:                Manufacturing Engineer
 
DEPARTMENT:        Engineering
 
BASIC FUNCTION:  Will provide technical support to manufacturing  operations, primarily for wire/rod forming and resistance welding processes, including day to day production support for setup, first run validations, machine, tool and process improvements, testing, and problem solving.
 
 
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
  1. Responsible to the Engineering Manager 
     
  2. Maintains close working relationship with all departments.
 
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
 
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology and five years of experience in a manufacturing environment.  Must have experience using Solid Works CAD software.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Analyze and recommend innovative solutions to improve manufacturing processes resulting in reduced cycle time, reduced set-up time, improve material handling, reduce WIP inventory, reduce quality costs and reduce production costs.
  2. Apply 5S and Lean techniques to develop maximum reliability and efficiency of processes, procedures, and equipment while providing an improved work environment.
  3. Provide engineering support to manufacturing operations in the troubleshooting, rebuilding and repair of complex tooling, equipment, and production
  4. Develop, coordinate, and implement technical training for employees by working closely with manufacturing, toolmakers, operators, and engineers
  5. Evaluates machine breakdowns to determine causes and participates in the implementation of corrective action to prevent recurrence
  6. Provide complete project management for new machine and system acquisitions, modifications, installations and upgrades.
  7. Design and develop machine and process control systems to minimize variables and reduce complexity of set up and operation.
  8. Prepares documentation and R.O.I.  for the justification, procurement, installation and commissioning of capital equipment
  9. Conferring with vendors in determining product specifications and arranging equipment, parts, or material purchase, and evaluating products according to quality standards and specifications.
  10. Other duties as requested by management.
